Desmitais Cēsu Mākslas festivāls tika atklāts 15. jūlijā, Cēsu Alus brūzī, ar izstādi “Laikmetīgā ainava”. Vakara turpinājumā Cēsu Izstāžu namā tika atklāta otra festivāla mākslas izstāde “Nākotnes retrospekcija”, ko sarūpējis festivāla patrons SEB banka sadarbībā ar Latvijas Mākslas akadēmiju. Atklāšanas vakara noslēgumā koncertzālē “Cēsis” izskanēja pirmais festivāla koncerts – veltījums izcilajam latviešu komponistam Pēterim Vaskam jubilejā. Tajā tika atskaņots viens no meistara jaunākajiem darbiem – Otrais koncerts čellam un orķestrim “Klātbūtne”.
