Šī gada Cēsu Mākslas festivāla kino programma “Mežs” ir savdabīgs turpinājums pagājušā gada brīvdabas kino seansu programmai “Upe”, kas izpelnījās lielu skatītāju interesi un tika nominēta balvai “Kilograms kultūras 2017″ sadaļā Pārsteigums. Arī šogad kino programmu veidojis kinorežisors Jānis Putniņš.
Programmā iekļauti četri ļoti dažādi darbi, taču tos vieno meža motīvs – gan kā vizuālais fons, gan saturiskā un asociatīvā nozīmē. Un filmas tiks izrādītas mežā, Cīrulīšu dabas takās pie Spoguļklintīm.
Mežs ir noslēpumains, tāpat arī cilvēki, kas rod tajā patvērumu. Mežs var dot mājas un paslēpt no vajātājiem, bet var likt arī apmaldīties un neļaut izkļūt ārā. Par to visu stāstīs šīs četras filmas, kas pašas savā ziņā ir paslēpušās mežā vai gluži otrādi – tur nomaldījušās, jo noteikti nav izrādītas pietiekoši bieži.
Ļoti savdabīgajai Rīgas kinostudijas filmai “Vilkatis Toms” (rež. Ēriks Lācis, 1983) tapusi jauna un kvalitatīva digitālā kopija, kas ļaus skatītājiem ne tikai izbaudīt neparasto stāstu, bet arī novērtēt filmas vizuālo kvalitāti. Programmā iekļautas arī divas padomju laikā populāras filmas – izcilā japāņu režisora Akiras Kurosavas Padomju Savienībā tapušais darbs “Dersu Uzala” (1975), kā arī tā laika bērnu un jauniešu kulta filma “Čingačguks jeb Lielā Čūska” (VDR, rež. Rihards Grošops, 1967) ar neatkārtojamo Gojko Mitiču galvenajā lomā. Savukārt tos, kurus interesē eksotiska vide un cilvēka ceļš pretī nezināmajam, noteikti uzrunās franču režisora Barbē Šrēdera vizuāli iespaidīgā filma “Ieleja” (1972), kuras darbība norisinās Papua-Jaungvinejā.
